Elliott Aviation, the industry’s leading Garmin retrofitter, has announced a Garmin ADS-B solution for the Citation Excel and XLS airframes. The STC that is currently being pursued will provide ADS-B OUT to meet the upcoming mandate but also provide ADS-B IN through a Bluetooth compatible device through Garmin’s Flight Stream wireless gateway. In addition, this solution will act as a bridge program to the recently announced Garmin G5000 retrofit for the Citation Excel and XLS by providing a significant discount for future G5000 installations.
This installation includes dual remote mount Garmin GTX-3000 smart transponders. It also includes a Garmin GDL-88, GA-36 and Flight Stream 110 to provide WAAS/GPS to the GTX-3000. The STC is similar in design to Elliott’s Garmin ADS-B solutions for other airframes including the 2002 and newer Pro Line 21 Hawkers and Premier I and IA. The design does not require additional modifications and provides seamless integration to existing cockpit controls including TCAS-II equipped aircraft.
In addition to Elliott’s experience in certifying Garmin ADS-B solutions, they were also the first dealer to do a retrofit installation of a Garmin G5000 in a part 25 aircraft. They have currently installed two G5000 systems in Beechjet 400A/Hawker 400XP’s and have 16 sold.
