Elliott Aviation, a leading business aviation services company, today has successfully integrated the new Garmin GTX-3000 ADS-B Transponder into the Citation Excel/XLS. This solution will provide a cost effective ADS-B OUT solution to meet the upcoming mandate as well as provides a bridge program to the upcoming Garmin Aviation G5000 retrofit. Excel/XLS operators can receive significant savings on the purchase of the G5000 with the prior purchase of the Garmin ADS-B solution.
Elliott Aviation’s ADS-B solution works seamlessly with the existing avionics and does not require any additional avionics modifications. This provides a firm fixed price and eliminates the possibility of costly upgrades and potential upcharges for repairs to your existing equipment while being modified. It also provides the operator the ability to receive ADS-B IN traffic and weather data displayed on Bluetooth compatible devices. This Garmin-based solution is similar to Elliott’s current ADS-B solutions for the Hawker, Premier I/IA and Beechjet 400A/Hawker 400XP. Additional aircraft models like the Hawker 800A/800XP, Citation III/VI/VII, Citation V/Ultra/Encore and Citation II with similar Primus II avionics can also utilize this cost effective solution.
“Our customers that have Primus II-equipped airplanes have been asking us to develop an easy ADS-B solution that would be much less expensive than a traditional upgrade path,” said Mark Wilken, Vice President of Avionics Programs and Operational Logistics at Elliott Aviation. “This STC does both and we’re happy to work toward certification.”
Elliott Aviation plans to finish the STC and be installing the ADS-B solution by the third quarter of 2017. Downtime is estimated to be eight working days and can be combined with maintenance to save downtime. Earlier this year, Elliott Aviation announced the first customer deposit on a Garmin G5000 in a Citation 560XL.
